Since the middle of September, Mrs. Larkin (the Speech Therapist) has been coming to our classroom once a week for a half hour.  She has been teaching our class about the way to describe an item.
Her visual is 7 different color beads on a rope and the kids sing a song to go along with it.  The beads are all different colors:
1. Green- group
2. Blue - do
3. (White with an eye) -what does it look like?
4. Wood - what is it made of?
5. Pink - parts
6. White - where?
7. (Orange with a question mark on it) - What else do I know?

Ask your child to sing it to you!!  It has been a very clever way to get the kids to start thinking of how to describe an object and what are all the ways we can classify it!!  (I have to admit, I've even learned some new things with Mrs. Larkin!)

Some here are some pictures of Mrs. Larkin leading our class in the Etchey beads.
